SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
THE RESOURCE CENTRE
Izinsika Zesizwe has built a high-tech Digital Skills Centre in the small town of Ekangala. The intention is for this centre to be used as a place where young people can be taught skills that will make them more attractive to employers or become more competitive in their businesses. This centre will also be availabe to the community and surrounding schools will also be able to utilize them. The centre was conceived as a safe space for youth, that is to facilitate spaces where they can meet, learn, study, and collaborate and will be a place of HOPE. Through the center we will run several programs outlined below which are designed to ensure that the center is indeed active and achieves its objectives.
1. Basic Digital skills Training Program
We will initiate a Digital Skills Training Program in association with Afrika Tikkun and Microsoft that will give unemployed youth skills that are in high demand by companies locally and around the world such as
Fundamentals of Computer Programming
- Data Analysis
- Project Management
- Financial Analysis
- Social Media Marketing
Beneficiaries can use these skills to be employed or be more competitive in their businesses.
2. Advanced Digital Skills Training Program
Izinsika Zesizwe in association with Learn Tech and Shudu Communications will utilize the Center to initiate and Advanced Digital Skills Training Program. This will include skills that are technically more advanced and require more attention than basic digital skills. This will include skills such as
- Gamification
- Virtual Reality Learning
- Software Development
- Robotics
Beneficiaries can use these skills to gain greater insight into the digital world, this will make them more attractive to employers. It will also enable them to compete in the digital world and be able to participate in the Meta universe using NFT’s (Non Fungible Tokens) as well as other advanced technologies.
3. Financial Management
Izinsika will also use the center to give young people access to financial management courses that are available for free online. Beneficiaries will be exposed to programs such as
- Old Mutual’s Moneyversity
- Streetwise Finance
4. Tackling Climate Change Through Entrepreneurship
Izinsika Zesizwe will run programs at the center that will bring awareness about climate change and the dangers it poses to our society. Our programs are also designed at training young people to also recognize the opportunities that green technologies and initiatives can bring us. We will endeavour to ensure that we create Green Entrepreneurs from the townships. We believe that this approach will ensure that the community buys into green initiatives because they will not be seen as a stumbling block but as a pathway to growth and opportunity.
5. Community Resource Centre
People in the community will also be able to use the center to access the internet for free at certain hours of the day. The center will allow community members to use the internet for things such as
- Accessing Emails
- Sending and Receiving CV's
- job opportunities
- Learning Opportiities
- Applying to institutions of Higher Learning
- Research and Assignments
in bringing in the digital learning centers, we also want to challenge the youth to think beyond seeking for jobs but rather create them by starting up their own small businesses and fend more and more for themselves in a crowded, harsh world.
Youth Empowerment Expos
Izinsika Zesizwe hosts Youth Empowerment Expositions twice a year, in February and in September. The purpose of the expos is to invite organizations that have an interest in developing young people to present opportunities and services that they offer to young people. We do this so that young people are aware of the help that is available to them. Over the years the expos have been a resounding success attracting over 650 young people at a time. Young people have received training and have participated in various programs that have developed them into better people.
